Welcome to Caterham & Oxted
Looking for a small traditional town with a rural feel, and within easy reach of Croydon and London?
The quaint picturesque town of Caterham, nearby Oxted, and its pretty rural villages of Kenley, Warlingham, Woldingham, Godstone, Whyteleafe, and Chelsham could be the perfect places to make your next home.
Caterham Town
Caterham is a small but sprawling commuter town nestled in the stunning Surrey countryside. In fact, it's hard to tell where parts of the town start and finish as its edges melt seamlessly into the adjoining North Downs landscape.
Part of the Tandridge district of Surrey, Caterham is just 6 miles south of Croydon and consists of two very distinctive areas, Caterham Valley and Caterham on the Hill.
Caterham Valley has developed into the main town centre and is where the majority of shops are situated, along with its mainline railway station, whilst above it to the west Caterham on the Hill, on the other hand, feels every bit like a traditional rural village.
Caterham Valley's Church Walk Shopping Centre has a small selection of shops including a number of local independent shops, as well as large high street names such as Boots, Clarks, and Waitrose, and Morrison's supermarkets. For fashion and a broader retail experience, Crawley is on the doorstep for clothing and more.
There are plenty of great places to eat and enjoy a pint or two in both parts of the town and following rural tradition, many of them are walker, family and pet friendly, and offer a warm welcome to one and all.
With the largest outdoor play area for kids in the area, Caterham's Queen's Park is the place to go and run off a bit of steam for both children and grown-ups. Providing a fantastic selection of outdoor and indoor sporting facilities set in a glorious park setting, Queen's Park is home to many sports associations and clubs.
The Arc in Caterham on the Hill is a great place to make friends and meet new neighbours with its many sports, arts, and educational classes and events. Its soft play is also a favourite place to wear the kids out on rainy days!
If you like your sport and entertainment to be a little more peaceful and relaxed, Caterham also has its own theatre, the Miller Centre Theatre as well as the magnificent Surrey National Golf Club on its doorstep.
Education
Caterham provides a great choice of schools, both in the town itself and across its surrounding villages.
Younger Caterham pupils have the choice of Audley Primary School, St Johns C of E Primary School, and Hillcroft Primary School. For older pupils, the de Stafford Secondary School takes students up to the age of 16.
Further education is then available at the outstanding Reigate Sixth Form College and East Surrey College.
Caterham is also home to the renowned private school, Caterham School.
Transport
Caterham is located just a short drive from the A22 and J6 of the M25 and the M23, offering excellent access across the southern region, right down to the coast, including popular destinations such as Brighton.
A favourite with commuters, Caterham's railway station provides a speedy access route to London's mainline stations in approximately 50 minutes.

We absolutely love living in Caterham Valley. The commute to London is so convenient - just 50 minutes from our door to the office. The children love Queen's Park and all the activities at The Arc. It really does feel like we have the best of both worlds - beautiful countryside on our doorstep but with excellent transport links and amenities.
